HOW TO PREPARE YOUR DESIGN AND ARTWORK FOR DTF PRINTING?
Ensuring your design is properly prepared for Direct to Film (DTF) printing is crucial for achieving vibrant, high-quality prints. Follow these guidelines to optimize your artwork and avoid common issues.
1. File Format & Resolution
- Submit designs in PNG, AI, PDF, PSD, SVG, EPS, JPG formats.
- Use a transparent background for best results.
- Ensure your design is at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) for sharp and detailed prints.
2. Color Mode & Profiles
- Work in CMYK color mode for the most accurate color representation. If your designs are already in RGB mode. Don't convert them to CMYK. We will do it in our RIP software.
- Use vibrant colors with high contrast to ensure visibility on different fabric types.
- Avoid relying on monitor colors—calibrate your screen if possible.
3. Design Size & Placement
- Scale your artwork to the exact size you want it printed.
- Allow a 0.25-inch margin around the edges to prevent cutting issues.
- Ensure text and critical design elements are positioned within safe printing zones.
- Do not exceed maximum print sizes.
4. Background & Transparency
- Remove unwanted backgrounds unless part of the design.
- Avoid semi-transparent elements, as they may not print as expected.
- For white or light-colored designs, include a thin border or outline for better visibility.
5. Text & Fonts
- Convert all fonts to outlines (vectors) to prevent missing fonts.
- Use a minimum font size of 10 pt for readability.
- Ensure all text is legible against the fabric color.
6. Special Effects & Gradients
- Avoid excessive gradients, shadows, or glows as they may not translate well in print.
- If using gradients, ensure smooth color transitions.
- Keep intricate details minimal, as very fine lines may not be visible after transfer.
7. White Ink Considerations
- White ink prints as a separate layer—ensure white areas are intentional.
- If printing on dark fabrics, make sure white elements are solid and opaque.
8. Test Before Bulk Printing
- Always print a small sample to check color accuracy and design clarity.
- Make necessary adjustments before placing large orders.
